BILL reported $191,103 in annual total compensation for its median employee in fiscal 2025, according to its 2025 Definitive Proxy Statement. That number includes earned base salary, actual bonuses and the grant-date value of equity awards. It is neither a median cash salary nor an Invoice2go-specific pay figure.
Invoice2go has operated inside BILL since the acquisition completed in September 2021. Public salary pages still use the Invoice2go name, but BILL no longer discloses a separate workforce, payroll total or companywide median for that product.
Why Invoice2go salary data is unusually difficult
Invoice2go once operated as a standalone mobile invoicing company. BILL now presents the acquisition as part of its corporate history and recruits through parent-company functions including engineering, finance, compliance, operations, customer experience, product design and sales.
The transition creates three overlapping datasets:
- Historical submissions from people employed by Invoice2go before the acquisition
- Newer submissions from employees associated with the product after it joined BILL
- BILL-wide compensation records covering many products and departments
Those datasets cannot be blended without qualification.
BILL reported 2,364 employees as of June 30, 2025 in its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2025. The company did not state how many of those employees worked primarily on Invoice2go.
Glassdoor’s Invoice2go salary page contained only 33 submissions across 26 job titles when reviewed in July 2026. Several listed jobs had one or two submissions.
Tiny samples can produce plausible numbers. They cannot produce a reliable pay structure.
BILL’s $191,103 median is not a salary average
BILL’s fiscal 2025 proxy gives the strongest companywide compensation figure available. It identified a median employee whose annual total compensation was $191,103 and reported CEO compensation of $16,139,836, producing an 85-to-1 pay ratio.
The calculation included 2,357 US employees after BILL excluded six employees in Australia and one in Canada under the SEC’s permitted de minimis method. Independent contractors and other nonemployees were not included.
Three components were used:
- annual base salary earned;
- actual bonuses earned;
- grant-date fair value of equity awards.
That final component is important. Grant-date value is an accounting measure assigned when an award is issued. It is not necessarily cash received during the year, nor does it guarantee that the stock will retain the same value before vesting.
BILL’s fiscal 2024 proxy had reported $206,309 for its median employee and a 70-to-1 CEO pay ratio. The fiscal 2025 median was lower, while the ratio increased to 85 to 1. The two disclosures used comparable categories, but a median can shift when hiring, departures, compensation mix or the identity of the selected middle employee changes.
The reportorial reading is narrow: BILL is a relatively highly compensated technology employer at the median, though that median includes equity and says nothing specific about an Invoice2go support worker, designer or engineer.
Pay estimates across the available sources
The figures below measure different things. BLS reports national occupational wages. Glassdoor and Levels.fyi publish employee-submitted estimates. The SEC figure follows a regulatory pay-ratio method.
| Role or measure | Published figure | Source and limitation |
|---|---|---|
| BILL median employee | $191,103 total compensation | Fiscal 2025 proxy; all included US employees except the CEO, with bonus and equity value |
| BILL median reported compensation | $223,429 | Levels.fyi; anonymous and verified current or former employee submissions, updated July 9, 2026 |
| Invoice2go senior software engineer | $176,000–$227,000 | Glassdoor; only two submissions |
| BILL senior software engineer | $228,271 total compensation | Levels.fyi, including reported base, stock and bonus components |
| US software developer | $133,080 median wage | BLS May 2024 national occupational median |
| Invoice2go customer operations associate | $63,000–$90,000 | Glassdoor; two submissions |
| BILL customer-service representative | $38,042–$56,221 typical range | Glassdoor; 13 submitted salaries reviewed in July 2026 |
| US customer-service representative | $20.59 median hourly wage | BLS May 2024 national occupational median |
This table does not rank the sources from highest to lowest pay. It shows why identical-looking dollar figures may describe different compensation concepts.
What software-engineering pay actually shows
Software engineering has the most usable Invoice2go salary evidence, although the sample remains thin.
Glassdoor listed an Invoice2go senior software engineer range of $176,000 to $227,000 from two submissions. Its single software-engineer submission produced a range of $136,000 to $192,000, while one associate-software-engineer submission showed $103,000 to $133,000.
The current parent-company data is broader. Levels.fyi reported BILL software-engineering total compensation of approximately:
- $150,000 for Software Engineer 1;
- $192,000 for Software Engineer 2;
- $228,000 for senior software engineer;
- $283,000 for staff engineer;
- $325,000 for senior staff engineer.
Its more detailed senior-engineer page broke the reported $228,271 average total compensation into $179,921 base salary, $38,212 in annualized stock value and a $10,138 bonus.
BLS reported a national median of $133,080 for software developers in May 2024. The lowest-paid 10% earned less than $79,850, while the highest-paid 10% earned more than $211,450.
BILL’s submitted engineering packages sit above the national BLS median because the comparisons are not like for like. The BILL figures can contain equity and bonuses, while the BLS figure measures wages. BILL also employs technology workers in high-cost markets, including San Jose, and competes for financial-software and payment expertise.
The headline figure includes more than salary.
Customer operations is not one occupation
Glassdoor displayed $63,000 to $90,000 for an Invoice2go customer operations associate, based on two submissions. The same site estimated a narrower $38,042 to $56,221 typical range for BILL customer-service representatives, using 13 submissions.
BLS reported a national median of $20.59 per hour for customer-service representatives in May 2024. The lowest 10% earned below $14.75, while the highest 10% earned above $30.16 per hour.
The Invoice2go customer-operations estimate should not automatically be compared with a general call-center wage. A financial-software operations employee may investigate payment states, account restrictions, processing failures or product-specific records. That can require responsibilities beyond answering routine customer questions.
The title is doing hidden work.
“Customer operations associate,” “customer-service representative,” “technical support specialist” and “payment operations analyst” may sit near one another organizationally while carrying different pay bands and required knowledge. BILL’s careers page names customer experience and operations separately and profiles a payment operations analyst, supporting the existence of such functional differences without publishing their pay ranges.
Marketing and management estimates need restraint
Glassdoor’s best-supported Invoice2go title was senior marketing manager, though “best-supported” meant only three submitted salaries. Its displayed range was $136,000 to $191,000. A people operations manager showed $95,000 to $135,000 from two submissions, and a localization manager showed $86,000 to $137,000, also from two.
BLS reported a $161,030 median annual wage for marketing managers in May 2024. The lowest 10% earned less than $81,900, while the highest 10% earned more than $239,200.
The Invoice2go senior-marketing range straddles the BLS national median, but that comparison remains approximate. Glassdoor may include bonus or other compensation, and the underlying employees may differ in location, team scope and reporting level.
A “manager” title is not standardized across companies. One manager may supervise employees and a major budget. Another may be an experienced individual contributor managing a program rather than staff.
The numbers provide a market signal. They do not define a grade.
Where total-compensation headlines mislead
Salary pages often mix four elements:
- cash base salary;
- cash bonus or commission;
- stock compensation;
- estimated total pay.
A worker cannot assume that a $228,271 total package means $228,271 in annual cash. Levels.fyi’s reported BILL senior-engineer package allocated roughly $48,350 to stock and bonus rather than base salary.
Stock creates timing risk as well. A grant may vest over several years, and its eventual market value can rise or fall. Leaving before a vesting date can result in forfeiting unvested awards.
SEC reporting adds another layer. BILL’s $191,103 median uses grant-date fair value for equity issued during the measurement period. It does not measure only vested shares or cash deposited into the employee’s account.
Location also changes the interpretation. BILL’s filing identifies San Jose and Draper as its two US offices and says it employs remote workers. A Silicon Valley engineering package and a customer-service position based elsewhere should not be treated as if they came from one national pay scale.
The common error is averaging incomparable jobs. A fintech company can report a high median because engineers, managers and equity awards raise the middle of its compensation distribution, even while some operations roles earn far less.
Why Levels.fyi and the SEC do not match
Levels.fyi reported median BILL compensation of $223,429, compared with the official fiscal 2025 median-employee figure of $191,103.
Neither number automatically invalidates the other.
The SEC calculation covered the defined employee population and used a company-selected methodology consistent with pay-ratio rules. Levels.fyi relies on submissions from current and former workers. Its visible role list is heavily weighted toward technology, data, product and management jobs, including a reported $347,000 median for software-engineering managers and $335,532 for product managers.
A voluntary technology-heavy sample would be expected to run above a companywide median that also includes support and administrative positions. That is an inference from the visible datasets, not a disclosed Levels.fyi sampling analysis.
Glassdoor has the opposite issue on the Invoice2go page. Its 33 salaries across 26 titles spread the data so thinly that most individual ranges cannot be tested against a meaningful sample.
The more precise a weak dataset appears, the more caution it deserves.
Invoice2go pay FAQ
What is the average Invoice2go salary?
No authoritative current companywide average is publicly disclosed. Glassdoor lists role estimates from 33 submissions across 26 titles, which is too limited to establish an Invoice2go-wide average.
What is BILL’s median employee compensation?
BILL reported $191,103 for fiscal 2025. The figure includes base salary earned, actual bonus and grant-date equity value; it is not a base-salary median.
How much does an Invoice2go software engineer make?
Glassdoor displayed $136,000 to $192,000 from one software-engineer submission and $176,000 to $227,000 from two senior-software-engineer submissions. Those ranges are estimates rather than employer-published bands.
Does BILL pay more than the software-industry average?
Submitted BILL engineering packages exceed the BLS national software-developer median, but BILL figures can include bonus and stock while BLS reports occupational wages. The measures cannot be compared as pure base salary.
Is the Invoice2go pay page current after the acquisition?
The page was active in July 2026, but Glassdoor does not show whether each submission came before or after BILL acquired Invoice2go in 2021. BILL’s official careers structure now covers the broader parent organization.
Why is BILL’s SEC median lower than Levels.fyi?
The SEC figure covers a defined companywide employee population. Levels.fyi uses voluntarily submitted current and former employee compensation, with many visible records in higher-paid technical and management roles.
Does the public record show Invoice2go bonuses?
No Invoice2go-specific bonus formula is published. BILL’s SEC median includes actual bonuses earned, but the filing does not disclose ordinary bonus targets by product or role.
